Weekly Class: Registration Required Students must turn 3 years old by December 1 (born before December 1, 2021). This class is a great option for children who just missed the cutoff for 3-year-old preschool, are ready to give up afternoon naps, haven't quite mastered toilet training, or are not ready to attend school without a parent's presence. We start the year as a once-a-week parent-child class on Wednesdays. Once students grow comfortable with the class setting and confident during separation time, they will begin attending Thursdays (same class time) without parents. We anticipate adding Thursdays in mid-January. Students must be toilet trained to attend on Thursdays. Sibling care is available for this class on Wednesday only. Notes for registration: Be prepared to select your income level, based on pre-tax household income, in order to determine your price for the class. Select the annual or monthly payment method, and your price will be displayed. Several surveys from the MN Department of Education are included at the end of your registration. (Surveys have no bearing on your registration, but it is helpful to our program if you complete them.) When you are given the choice to "continue shopping or checkout," select continue shopping to add another class or to add another child to the same class. Otherwise, at checkout you will be asked for a payment method (credit card or checking account), which will be charged only if you are placed in a class. When you check out and your registration is complete, you will receive a confirmation email. If you do not receive this email, your registration may not be processed. Weekly Class: Registration Required This evening class extends the age range to allow students to learn from each other. Ideal for families who want to work on sharing and/or sibling dynamics. Art, sensory, music, language, and games are the focus of this class as parents learn to appreciate their child's growing curiosity. Parents move to another room for their discussion time while children continue to play and learn together. Add-On Class: Registration Required The Young Explorers series allows for play and learning focused on a different theme for each class. Classes meet Tuesdays for 3 weeks from 1-2:30pm. Please note that classes may include guest speakers and field trips. This is a separating class, and parenting time will include discussions of theme-related topics as well as general joys and concerns. Sibling care is available for onsite days for an additional $10 per child per class. Class Dates Description Young Naturalists September 17, 24, October 1 Let's get outside and learn about the world around us! We'll be taking a field trip to a nature center. Young Farmers October 22, 29, November 5 We'll learn about farms, farmers, crops, and animals. It wouldn't be complete without a visit to a working farm. Young Scientists November 26, December 3, 10 Opportunities for children to use their minds and hands to play, explore, and learn. What fun things will we create? NEW! Young Chefs January 28, February 4, 11 We'll be whipping up a variety of recipes you can eat in the classroom and make again at home. Young Helpers February 18, 25, March 4 We will discover the helpers in our community - police, fire fighters, postal workers, librarians - and get a chance to be helpers ourselves. NEW! Young Bakers April 1, 8 We will explore age-appropriate baking recipes without using an oven. This 2-week class is $20 per child, with sibling care available for $7 per child. (Be sure to select the $7 sibling care rate.) Young Gardeners April 22, 29, May 6 How does your garden grow? We'll explore plants and the growing cycle. Prepare to get your hands dirty as we visit All Good Organics in Centerville to see what is growing in the greenhouse and visit the baby goats! Notes for registration: There is no lottery for Young Explorers classes; you will be able to register for any session where there is room. You may register for Young Explorer classes in addition to a year-long weekly class, but each class should be its own enrollment. Register for your primary class or first add-on class, then select Continue Shopping instead of Checkout. Add your next Young Explorers class and repeat the process until you have registered for all the classes you want. At checkout you will be asked for a payment method (credit card or checking account), which will be charged only for the Young Explorers class(es). Any other ECFE registrations will be held for the lottery. When you check out and your registration is complete, you will receive a confirmation email.
